HANDBALL IHF SUPER GLOBE 2021: SCM IS CLUB WORLD CHAMPION
Team captain and defensive leader Christian O’Sullivan has won numerous titles with SCM and remembers well the goosebumps he felt back then.
Sports Club Magdeburg is one of Germany’s most successful handball clubs. The entire SCM was founded in 1955, with the handball division following in 1958 and soon competing in the GDR first division. SCM won the GDR championship several times and also caused a sensation internationally.
After reunification, the club continued its success in the German national league. National and international titles followed, including victories in the EHF Champions League in 2002, 2023 and 2025 – milestones in the club’s illustrious history.

The 2021 EHF European winner SC Magdeburg became club world champion for the first time in its history and won the second-highest title for club teams. This made SCM the third German club after THW Kiel (2011) and Füchse Berlin (2015, 2016) to become club world champion.
