BEATE MOROS-LOBENSTEIN – PARALYMPIC SWIMMING CHAMPION
Beate Moros-Lobenstein is a successful Paralympic swimmer who competed for the Magdeburg clubs BSG Aufbau Börde and later for the Club for Sports Therapy and Disabled Sports 1980 (VSB 1980).
Disabled due to paralysis of her right arm, she competed in the disciplines of 50 and 100-meter freestyle, 200-meter medley, 100-meter breaststroke, and 100-meter backstroke, successfully representing her clubs in national and international competitions.

Beate Moros-Lobenstein won gold at the 1992 Paralympics in the 100 m medley relay, silver in the 200 m freestyle, and bronze in the 100 m freestyle relay. This was followed by silver in the medley relay in 1996, bronze at the World Championships in 1998, gold at the European Championships in the freestyle relay in 1999, and bronze at the European Championships in the 100 m backstroke. In 1992, she was named Sportswoman of the Year in Saxony-Anhalt. She received the Silver Laurel Leaf and is listed in Magdeburg’s Golden Book. In total, she won 91 medals at national and international championships. Her 1992 Paralympic gold medal is immortalized on the Sports Walk of Fame.
