STAYING ON COURSE WITH DETERMINATION
Persistent, down-to-earth, and determined—that’s how people around her describe her: Manuela Lutze has helped the sporting city of Magdeburg gain an international reputation.
Manuela Lutze had lived in Magdeburg since 1987. Born in Blankenburg, she took a slight detour in her sporting career, coming to rowing via athletics. Manuela Lutze made her Olympic debut in 1996 in Atlanta in the double sculls (5th place) and then specialized in the quadruple sculls. She received the Silver Laurel Leaf in 2005 for her sporting achievements—the highest sporting award in Germany. The city of Blankenburg declared the former rower as an honorary citizen.
