DAGMAR HASE – TOLERANCE AND FAIRPLAY
Dagmar Hase showed great generosity and sportsmanship at the 1994 World Championships in Rome, where she gave up her place in the final to Franziska van Almsick. Van Almsick went on to win gold with a new world record in the 200 m freestyle. In 1998, Dagmar Hase received an award for tolerance and fair play.
Leading position in international swimming
Dagmar Hase is a multiple Olympic champion and one of the most successful swimmers of her time. In 1990, the Harz born swimmer joined the club SC Magdeburg. Her successes reflect discipline, endurance, and the leading position of SCM in world swimming. She ended her career after 16 years of competitive swimming following the 1998 World Championships in Perth with a complete set of medals. She trained young talent at SC Magdeburg for 20 years.

Dagmar Hase won the 400-meter freestyle at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. The SCM swimmer, who was inducted into the International Hall of Fame in 2013, described her Olympic success at the time as follows: “It was never predictable, victory was not within reach. And then everything fell into place. It was the perfect race.”
